Port Washington, NY

Port Washington is a town on the North Shore of Long Island that is a mere 17 miles east of New York City, in the northwest corner of Nassau County. The landscape consists of rolling hills and coastline and the community has a plethora of marinas and golf courses at its disposal. It is also known for its artsy sensibility and strong community of about 30,000 people. Happily for commuters, the town is also the easternmost point on the only direct LIRR train into Penn Station (not necessitating a change at Jamaica) - the ride takes 36 minutes on the express train. It's public schools are highly ranked and the beautiful waterfronts of Manhasset Bay, Long Island Sound and Hempstead Harbor are nearby.
